Au sujet des popos:

They stack, they are sold or can be crafted, they are generally cheap for the normal potions. It’s not meant to be a money sink even for the normal ones. They are there to make it so we can open up classes more in their abilities and you can do more solo without being reliant on towing healers around with you. Combine this with bandaging and you get very little downtime, with a potion to help you get through an accidental double or triple pull etc.

The potions themselves stack, the effects don’t. So you cant use 2 health potions at once etc.

Entire-world PvP ?

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Un post intéressant trouvé sur le forum officiel en faveur d’un serveur Full PvP. N’hésitez pas à encourager l’initiative.

I’m talking about PvP in the entire world (except in cities/towns/temples of course). Frankly I think its the most fun kind of PvP if it’s done right. And I have a few points to make my case:

    The Realism Factor
Let’s face it, this is the most realistic way to do PvP. There’s really not much more to say about this point except that entire-world PvP certainly supports the idea of a dangerous wilderness outside of protected cities.

    Encourages Teamwork
If you know that when you travel from place to place there’s a chance you’ll be assaulted by bandits and raiders you’ll probably want to form up with a traveling party for protection. Well, what about people who want to go off alone? If you’re strong enough or stealthy enough then this very well may be possible. But lets face it, the average gamer is not going to be able to fend off a group of bandits alone. But really, what’s wrong with that? After all, this is a MMORPG and people will be forming parties anyway. Bandits might think twice about attacking a large party. Anyway, I think it would be more fun this way. Winning a fight through teamwork is always more satisfying than winning alone.

    The Looting Issue
The problem here is the chance of losing a lot of your good gear to a bandit. I think this can be avoided by the following: If you die to PvP your corpse has a randomly-determined percentage of your money and items available for the winners to loot (though quest-related items should never be allowed to be looted). This way you don’t lose everything and yet it still elevates the “danger” factor of the wilderness and encourages teamwork to protect yourself and your gear. But it also is a double-edged blade. Sure, the bandits might kill you and take some of your stuff, but you might kill the bandits and take their stuff. And so we also see that this might make bandit groups think twice about assaulting travelers–especially travellers who are in large groups or well-equipped.

    Encourages New Ways To Play
I think the most attractive part of RPGs (and MMORPGs) is that they allow you the freedom to play the game the way you want to play it. Entire-world PvP only helps this. Maybe you want to form up a bandit group and spend some time looting travellers? Maybe you want to form a vigilante group and hunt bandits? Maybe you want to form a mercenary group to be hired either by bandits for muscle or by travellers for protection or by other players for assassination/theft jobs? The possibilities are endless.

In conclusion, I think entire-world PvP gives the game more freedom, adds to the realism, make the wilderness dangerous, encourages teamwork, insipres news ways to play, and in general is a heck of a lot more fun.

I don’t think every server should have entire-world PvP, in case those who really don’t want to participate don’t have to. But it should at least be an option for servers because I’m sure just as many people would want to participate.
